Faster than a speeding “Ka-pow!”, newbie attorney Benjamin Bightme has his career-making moment in court smashed to hell as the Metro City courthouse is attacked by the supervillain Phantasm. Ben is hurled through a plate-glass window, his star witness is killed, and he loses his job. That’s just the start of his problems, for he’s approached by superhero poster boy Mighty Man, who asks him to become their lawyer. He and the other spandex-clad supers are tired of getting sued for property damage every time they save the planet or inadvertently super-sneeze. Worried about further damage to his career, his social life, and his arms and legs, Ben refuses. But the supers aren’t above a little subterfuge to get their way, and before he knows it, he’s tricked into becoming their lawyer.
Pulled into their unpredictable world, he quickly finds himself in over his head and on the run from Phantasm. Then supers start to disappear. One ends up dead. And as Ben pieces together Phantasm’s plan to wipe out Mighty Man and the other supers in a sweeping carnage of power-stealing-destruction, he realizes he’s the only one who can save them—and the rest of us.
